Prof. Jamidu Katima took over the Chairmanship of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) Board of Directors after his Presidential appointment on 24th August 2015 thus being the second Board Chairman after the founding Board Chairman, Simon Sayore’s tenure came to an end. Until his appointment, he was the first Chairman of EWURA Consumers Consultative Council (EWURA CCC), where he worked since its inception in 2006.
Prof. Katima is currently the Vice Chancellor of Kampala International University in Tanzania.
He has attended Leeds University for his doctorate studies in 1990, Loughborough University for Master of Philosophy in 1986, and Dar es Salaam University for Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1982.
Prof. Katima is a Professor of Chemical and Process Engineering, Former Principal College of Engineering and Technology; A senior Academic and Administrative Leader with many years of Teaching, Research, Publication and supervision of multiple masters and PhD dissertations. A scholar of international repute, with a global network of academic, industry and donor community.
Prof. Katima is a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize of 2007, being one of the Co-Award winners of the Nobel Peace Prize to IPCC jointly with H.E Al-Gore, the Former Vice President of the United States of America.
He has participated in numerous international and national research projects, with interest in Environmental Management, Chemicals Management, Transport Phenomena and Energy Management
