Ms Lucy H. Sondo was appointed member of the Board of Directors of EWURA in January, 2006. She was reappointed for another term of four years effective from June 2010.
Ms Sondo, who is one of the top notch lawyers in Tanzania, has got extensive
experience in Legislative and General drafting, Project Finance, Privatizations, Mergers & Acquisition, Private Public Partnerships, Capital Markets, Corporate, Mining and Telecommunication law. Her exposure in regulatory matters and practice around the world is an added advantage to EWURA.
Education : University of the West India, LLM, 1987 (Legislative Drafting); and
University of Dar es Salaam LLB, 1984.
Profession: Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, Senior Counsel.
Experience : Partner, ADEPT Chambers, January 2010 to-date; Partner, Abenry & Company, January 2006 to December 2009; Junior Partner, Mkono & Company 2002 – 2005; Senior Legal Counsel, Mkono & Company, 1997 – 2001; Senior Parliamentary Draftsperson, Attorney General’s Chambers, Ministry of Justice & Constitutional Affairs, 1984 – 1996; Deputy Secretary to the Presidential Committee appointed to look into the Constitution of the United Republic and the Structure of Local Governments, 1993 – 1994; Member, Financial Institutions Study group, 1990 – 1991.
Lucy sits on the Board of Directors of National Development Corporation (NDC), African Banking Corporation Tanzania Limited (BancABC) and Savannah Plains International School. Lucy is a member of: Tanganyika Law Society; Tanzania Women Lawyers’ Association; East Africa Law Society; and Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel. |
