Sera ya Taifa ya Nishati ya mwaka 2015

Ili kutatua changamoto katika mkondo wa kati na wa chini wa shughuli za gesi asilia nchini, serikali ilitayarisha Sera ya Taifa ya Nishati, 2015 kwa lengo la kuwezesha upatikanaji na unafuu wa huduma endelevu na za kisasa za nishati.  Sera inaeleza kwa kina sheria na muundo wa kitaasisi wa petroli, umeme, nishati jadidifu, tija katika nishati kwa kuzingatia maslahi ya taifa.

Sheria

Sheria ya Petroli , Sura ya 392) ndiyo sheria kuu inayosimamia mkondo wa juu, kati na wa chini wa shughuli za mafuta. Haki na wajibu kwa wenye leseni na waendeshaji wa shughuli za gesi asilia zimeainishwa katika mikataba yao. Kifungu cha 30 cha Sheria hiyo na kifunfu cha 7 cha  Sheria ya EWURA,Sura Na. 414 ; na marekebisho yake; vimeipa  EWURA uwezo wa  kusimamia, kuendeleza na kutekeleza masuala ya sekta ndogo ya gesi asilia, kuandaa kanuni na miongozo mbalimbali z kama ifuatavyo: –
