The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has conducted a seminar for the Fair Competition Tribunal (FCT) aimed at enhancing its understanding of the sectors regulated by EWURA.

Speaking on behalf of the Director General during the opening of the seminar, the Director of Legal Services, Ms. Toni Mbilinyi, said the seminar serves as an important platform for strengthening the shared understanding of the procedures, expectations, and legal standards governing appeals and dispute resolution, an area that directly aligns with the Authority’s legal mandate.

She noted that the Fair Competition Tribunal plays a crucial role as an independent appellate body, ensuring that EWURA’s decisions are reviewed fairly, transparently, and in accordance with the law. Such a process, she emphasized, strengthens accountability and builds public trust in the institutions involved.

“Strengthening collaboration between EWURA and the Fair Competition Tribunal is not merely an institutional matter, but a strategic one. This partnership helps to promote consistency in legal interpretation, reduce unnecessary disputes, and foster a stable and investment-friendly environment,” she stated.
