The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) today met with various stakeholders from the water and sanitation sector to discuss a draft report on baseline environmental sanitation data collected from the Water Supply and Sanitation Authorities of Dodoma, Dar es Salaam, Ifakara, and Makambako. The meeting was held today, Wednesday, 14 January 2026, in Dodoma.

Opening the meeting on behalf of the Director General of EWURA, the Director of Water and Sanitation, Engineer Exaudi Maro, stated that EWURA undertook the data collection exercise to support informed regulatory decision-making and improve environmental sanitation services.

“These data will enable water authorities to improve investment planning in sanitation infrastructure, as well as enhance services for the collection, transportation, and treatment of faecal sludge in line with the actual needs of the public,” he added.

The Assistant Director of Environmental Sanitation at the Ministry of Water, Mr. Tuntufye David, commended EWURA for the initiative and emphasized the importance of the data in the development of effective wastewater infrastructure.
